TEST + LINEAR EQUATIONS IN ONE VARIABLE(LECTURE 1)
DATE: 20TH APRIL,2020
DEAR STUDENTS
WELCOME TO THE CLASS!!
I HOPE YOU ALL HAVE REVISED FOR THE CLASS TEST!!
CLICK ON THE LINK GIVEN TO TAKE THE TEST
THANKS FOR TAKING THE TEST😊
NOW LET'S GET BACK TO OUR LESSON TODAY
We will start with new chapter : CH-2 LINEAR EQUATIONS IN ONE VARIABLE
Guidelines for the class:
(🔴 hint: From ans 3 pick out the ones having only 1 variable )
I hope you all were able to answer .
Let's discuss them
1.5x, 2x -3
2.x² +1 =2, 3x +y =5, 5x =25, 2x-3=9
3.3x +y =5, 5x =25, 2x-3=9
4.5x =25, 2x-3=9
⭐⭐to those who got all correct!!
What is a linear equation in one variable?
The equations with linear expressions in one variable only are known as linear equations in one variable.
eg x +5 =2
✸✸ The degree of linear equation is 1.
✸✸ An algebraic equation has an equality sign. The expression on the left of the equality sign is the Left Hand Side (LHS). The expression on the right of the equality sign is the Right Hand Side (RHS).
What is a solution of an equation?
In an equation, the values of the expressions on the LHS and RHS are equal only for certain values of the variable. These values are the solutions of the equation
eg in x +3 =5
So, for x =2 , LHS= RHS
Therefore x= 2 is the solution.
Practice Questions
☟ for HW
2. Check whether the value given in the brackets is a solution to the given equation or not:
(a) x + 6 = 19 (x = 1) (First one is done for you)
LHS
x+6
put x=1
1+6
=7
LHS ≠ RHS. So, x=1 is not the solution.
(b) 7n + 5 = 19 (n = 2)
(c) 7n - 5 = 19 (n = 2)
(d) 4p – 3 = 3 (p = 1)
(e) 4p – 3 = 19 (p = – 4)
(f) 4 – 3x = 13 (x = 0)

NOW LET'S GET BACK TO OUR LESSON TODAY
We will start with new chapter : CH-2 LINEAR EQUATIONS IN ONE VARIABLE
Guidelines for the class:
1. Note down the work in your register on a regular basis.
2. Please feel free to ask, if you have any doubt by dropping a message in the comment box.
3. Make a column on the right hand side, if you need to do any rough work
4..Write today's date.
5.Write the chapter number and name.
6.Text in Blue has to be noted down.
Write down Today's Learning Outcomes
I will be able to:
1. Recall what is a variable, constant and an algebraic expression.
2.Recall what is a simple equation.
3. define linear equation in one variable and its solution.
You all have studied about algebraic expressions and equations in your previous classes
Now, look at the image below and answer the following questions.(Note down)
1.Write down all the algebraic expressions.
Ans. (🔴 hint: They are without =)
2. Write down the equations.
Ans. (🔴 hint: They are with =)
3. Write down the linear equation(s).
Ans. (🔴 hint: From ans 2 pick out the ones having highest power of variable 1)
4. Write down the linear equation(s) in one variable.
