LINEAR EQUATIONS IN ONE VARIABLE(LECTURE 2)
21ST APRIL,20
Dear students
Welcome to the class!!
How was the test yesterday??
I hope you all have noted down the errors (if any)!!
This will help you ace your performance!!
YOU ARE ENCOURAGED TO SOLVE ON YOUR OWN AND THEN REFER TO THE ANSWERS GIVEN BELOW .
ANSWERS
A 7 ) 2x =18 x 3
=>2 x = 54
=> x = 54/2
=> x= 27
A8) y = 1.5 x 1.6
=> y= 2.4
A9) 7x = 16 +9
=> 7x = 25
=> x = 25/7
A10) 14y = 13 +8
=> 14y = 21
=> y = 21/14
=> y = 3/2( dividing numerator and denominator by 7)
A11) 6p = 9 -17
=> 6p = -8
=> p = - 8/6
=> p = -4/3 (dividing numerator and denominator by 2)
A12 ) x/3 = 7/15 -1
=> x/3 = (7 -15)/ 15
=> x/3 = -8/15
=> x = (-8x3)/15
=> x = -24/15
=> x= -8/5
Ex 2.1 Q1 to 6
Dear students
Welcome to the class!!
How was the test yesterday??
I hope you all have noted down the errors (if any)!!
This will help you ace your performance!!
Guidelines for the class:
1. Note down the work in your register on a regular basis.
2. Please feel free to ask, if you have any doubt by dropping a message in the comment box.
3. Make a column on the right hand side, if you need to do any rough work
4..Write today's date.
5.Write the chapter number and name.
6.Text in Blue has to be noted down.
let's recall the learning outcomes we covered yesterday:
What is a linear equation in one variable and its solution.
Write down Today's Learning Outcomes
I will be able to:
1.Recall what is a linear equation in one variable.
2. solve linear equation in one variable
Let's start with our class.
How to solve linear equation in one variable ?
There are 2 methods to solve:
✴ We assume that the two sides of the equation are balanced. We perform the same mathematical operations on both sides of the equation, so that the balance is not disturbed
Click on the link to view the method
As you saw in the link, this method in not used in common.
✴✴ Transpose method
Click on the link to view the method
Now, look at the eg. given below
eg1. Solve 2y + 9 = 4 (note down)
Solution: Transposing 9 to RHS
2y = 4 – 9 or 2y = – 5
Dividing both sides by 2,
y =- 5/ 2 is the solution
eg2 Solve 15/ 4 – 7x = 9 (Complete it)
Solution: We have 15/ 4 – 7x = 9
or – 7x = 9 ................... (transposing 15/ 4 to R H S)
or – 7x =..............(solving RHS)
or x =................... (dividing both sides by – 7)
or – 7x =..............(solving RHS)
or x =................... (dividing both sides by – 7)
Do the following questions as CW
Please check your answers. Give a 😊 in your notebook if you get all correct.
